An LED Leko replaces the traditional tungsten lamp with an LED engine inside the same Source Four-style body, giving you color mixing or tunable white without swapping lamps or gels, plus lower heat output and power draw. The optics, shutters, and lens tube options stay the same as their tungsten counterparts.
Can I Use My Existing Source Four Lens Tube Or Shutter Barrel With An LED Engine?
In most cases, yes – ETC’s LED engines are designed to drop into standard Source Four bodies and accept the same EDLT lens tubes and shutter barrels. Confirm the specific engine model against your lens tube’s degree spec before ordering, since barrel compatibility varies slightly by engine generation.
What Color Temperature And CRI Do ETC LED Lekos Offer?
This depends on the engine: ColorSource covers a broad tunable range through RGBL mixing, Series 3 extends that range with a deeper color gamut, and Selador is built specifically for high-CRI, color-accurate output. If color-critical work like broadcast or film is the priority, Selador is typically the better fit.
Do ETC LED Lekos Require Special Dimmers Or Power?
LED Lekos run on standard DMX512 control rather than a dimmer circuit, so they don’t need dimmable power the way a tungsten fixture does — but they do need a DMX connection with enough channels for color mixing and intensity. Check the engine’s channel mode against your console before patching.
Can I Buy Just The LED Engine, Or Do I Need The Full Fixture?
Both options are available. If you already own a Source Four body and shutter barrel, you can order the LED engine or light engine only; if you’re starting from scratch, the complete fixture (engine plus barrel) is the simpler route.
